Here at Discovery Nomads, we are thrilled to announce that we warmly welcome dogs on our Europe and USA tours. That's right – you can now embark on your adventures with your furry friend by your side, creating unforgettable memories together.

Meet Vicky, our beloved company dog, who has journeyed to some of the most iconic destinations around the world, including Paris, Nice, Monaco, Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Lisbon, Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Sardinia, Santorini, Crete, Mallorca, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Vegas, and even embarked on a US National Parks road trip adventure. Inspired by her extensive travels, we've decided to extend this privilege to our wonderful customers, allowing them to experience the joy of travel with their furry companions too!

We understand that dogs are not just pets; they are family members. That's why we've made it our mission to ensure that your four-legged companion can join you on your travels without any hassle. Here's everything you need to know about bringing your dog along on our tours:

No Extra Charges:

We are proud to be the first travel company to pioneer pet-friendly adventures, offering the opportunity to travel with dogs without any additional charges. We believe that every member of the family, including fluffy ones should be able to experience the joy of travel together. Your furry friend is welcome to join you on all our walking sightseeing tours.

Flight Costs:

While there are no extra charges from us, you will need to cover the cost of flights for your dog. On average, this can range from approximately 50-70€ in Europe, depending on the airline and destination. Unfortunately, airlines charge an additional €120 (or $120) for one-way flights to and from the US. Our team can provide guidance and assistance in booking your dog's flights to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Hotel Accommodations:

While most hotels on our tours welcome dogs, some may charge a pet fee for your furry friend's stay. Typically, this fee ranges from around 30-50€ per night or stay. Rest assured, we'll help you find dog-friendly accommodations and provide recommendations to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Requirements for Dogs:

For the safety and well-being of all our guests, there are a few requirements for dogs joining our tours. Firstly, dogs must weigh no more than 8kg/17lbs to ensure their comfort during travel. Additionally, all dogs must be fully vaccinated according to local regulations. Don't worry – our team will assist you with all the necessary documents and provide expert advice on preparing your dog for travel.

The friendliest countries for fluffy travelers:

If you're a proud pet parent planning your next adventure with your fluffy companion, you'll want to consider these pet-friendly countries that roll out the red carpet for furry travelers:

1. Italy:

Italy tops the list as one of the friendliest countries for dogs. From the charming streets of Rome to the picturesque beaches of the Amalfi Coast, dogs are welcomed with open arms. You'll find them not only allowed but embraced in restaurants, cafes, shops, beaches, and yes, even most supermarkets.

2. Greece:

In Greece, dogs are more than just pets; they're part of the family. It's no surprise that this Mediterranean paradise is a haven for four-legged friends. Whether you're dining at a seaside taverna, strolling through ancient ruins, or relaxing on sun-kissed beaches, your dog will be right by your side. Greeks love their dogs, and you'll find them welcome in restaurants, shops, cafes, and beaches across the country. In the land where chicken dishes reign supreme, your dog will love it! Greek people are known to often offer a little snack for your furry friend at restaurants.

3. France:

Bonjour, furry travelers! France, known for its culinary delights and romantic ambiance, is also incredibly dog-friendly. Picture-perfect Parisian cafes, quaint village streets, and sandy shores along the French Riviera – all places where your pooch is not just tolerated but celebrated. Whether you're sipping espresso at a sidewalk cafe or browsing the boutiques of Provence, your canine companion can join you every step of the way.

4. Spain and Portugal:

Heading to the Iberian Peninsula? You're in luck! While Spain and Portugal may have some restrictions compared to other countries, they still offer plenty of opportunities for you and your furry friend to explore together. In Spain, dogs are welcome in outdoor areas of restaurants, and while beaches are not allowed, there are some dog-friendly beaches. Portugal follows a similar pattern, with dogs allowed in outdoor restaurant areas and some beaches, though not all shops may be as accommodating.

5. UK:

Last but certainly not least, the United Kingdom is a relatively dog-friendly destination. While regulations may vary slightly between England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, you'll find that many restaurants, shops welcome well-behaved dogs. Whether you're wandering through the bustling streets of London or hiking in the Scottish Highlands, your furry friend can join in on the fun.

Getting into the UK with a dog:

Unlike many destinations, dogs are not allowed in the cabin on arrival flights or Eurostar trains. However, fret not! There are still pet-friendly travel options available to ensure a smooth journey for you and your beloved pet.

When traveling to the UK, you can take a ferry or you can opt for a car ride through the Eurotunnel. The Eurotunnel Shuttle service allows pets to travel with their owners in the comfort of their vehicle. It's a convenient and efficient way to cross the Channel while keeping your furry friend by your side.

For those without access to a vehicle, pet taxi services specifically designed for Eurotunnel travel are available. These services cater to the needs of pet owners, offering a safe and reliable transportation option for dogs traveling through the Eurotunnel.

With careful planning and the right choice of transportation, you can enjoy exploring the beauty of the United Kingdom together with your furry friend by your side.

It is also worth mentioning that you can fly out of the UK with your dog in cabin with pet-friendly airlines eg Lufthansa, Iberia etc.

Traveling with your dog opens up a world of possibilities for unforgettable adventures. Whether you're exploring the charming streets of Europe or embarking on a scenic road trip across the USA, having your furry companion by your side adds an extra layer of joy to your journey.

At Discovery Nomads, we understand the bond between humans and dogs, and we're dedicated to making your travel experience as seamless as possible. So why wait? Pack your bags, leash up your pup, and get ready for the ultimate travel adventure with your furry best friend.

Book your next tour with us and embark on a journey filled with wagging tails, happy memories, and unforgettable experiences. We can't wait to welcome you and your dog aboard!
